"Big" Jim McLaughlin has been a significant figure in Canadian sportfishing for over 30 years, initially gaining fame as a tournament angler with two CFT Canadian Classic Championships and 28 tournament victories. His success in competitive angling led to his founding of Just Fishing, Canada’s largest free fishing publication, which has been providing valuable information to anglers in Canada and the U.S. for over 32 years. Jim's accomplishments earned him induction into the Canadian Sport Fishing Hall in two categories and recognition as the only Canadian in the U.S. Bass Fishing Hall of Fame, receiving the prestigious Meritorious Service Award in 2023.
In addition to publishing, "Big" Jim has had a varied career in the fishing industry, including hosting the Ultimate Fishing Show, emceeing tournament weigh-ins, speaking at top sport shows, and participating in promotional and charity events. His contributions have earned him numerous accolades, including the CSIA Chairman’s Award.
